Yes, I have put my very talented (and did I mention awesome?) mom up to the challenge of making the bedding and pillows for the nursery.
I am so excited about the bright, fun fabrics that are going into it.
The pink fabric is for a few accents, because I figured...what little girls nursery is complete without a splash of pink?
I love the neutral and calming paint color for the walls, and the yellow paint is for an old dresser that I am refinishing. The same dresser was actually in my nursery when I was a baby.

I can't wait until this all comes together and *hopefully* the vision in my head will come to life!

Over Valentine's weekend, Josh and I headed down to San Clemente, Ca with my mom, brother, and his family.
We were lucky to have beautiful weather all weekend with temps in the 70's.
We spent one day at Sea World, the next at Disneyland (which was ridiculously crowded), and the last day lounging at the beach.

As I am writing this, I am enjoying these delicious treats and looking forward to warmer days and spring.
Oh how I love spring!

But anyway...back to a few favorite things that Santa brought me this year.
I guess these things are more for Lily Belle than me, but I was still super excited about them!
We didn't know that we were having a girl when Christmas came but am glad we are, considering that these things are on the girlie side of the spectrum.

They are Monkeez and Friends stuffed animals and Clothbound Penguin Classics for children.

I LOVE them!

Seriously! It doesn't get much cuter than this. Well, at least in my opinion anyway.

A long wait...

... but I am so very happy and grateful that I am pregnant and this baby girl is healthy!

It hasn't been the easiest road getting to this point, but I feel like I may have needed these experiences to fully appreciate the miracle and beauty of having a child. Well, I don't have a child yet, but I feel confident that this baby is here to stay.

The road getting to this point started December 2009. Josh and I decided we were ready to have a child. So...I got pregnant. No problems...easy as pie. I had a couple ultrasounds during the course of this pregnancy and everything was looking good. At 14 weeks we went in for a normal appointment. No heartbeat. I had an ultrasound. No movement. No heartbeat. I thought I was over the miscarriage scare part of the pregnancy. Wrong.
The next day, March 24, I had the routine surgery to remove the baby.
I was numb from any sort of emotion. In fact, all I wanted to do was run away from life.

It is crazy that this happens to so many women, so it shouldn't be a big deal, right?

Well, it was a big deal for me. It took me about 6 months to climb out of the dark place I put myself in.

I was finally ready to try again. In August, Josh and I headed out on the most amazing vacation to Australia and New Zealand. I got pregnant. Once again, easy as pie. No problems. I only knew I was pregnant a week when I started to miscarry. The odd thing was that during that week I kept saying, "third time's a charm". I guess I sort of knew that the second time wasn't the time.

After that miscarriage, I wanted to keep trying right away. So...two weeks later, I found out I was pregnant...once again. I am so glad to know that I have no troubles in the "getting pregnant department". I worry all the time, but have had no troubles at all during this pregnancy.

I am now just a day shy of 23 weeks and couldn't be happier. I am able to feel her move all day, and it is so comforting to know she is kicking, twirling around, and everything is o.k.
I have a ton of ultrasound pics, because I have been going in quite often just to make sure everything looks good.

These are some pics of our baby Lily Belle...

This is when she was just a bean at about 9.5 weeks.

She is about 12.5 weeks in both of these. I love her little hand waving in the pic above.

At almost 18 weeks we found out we were having a girl! So exciting!

Tub Tubs and Pumpkins...

Last week, Tub Tubs wanted to get his picture taken.
Matthew loves to have me take his picture, then look at it right after it has been taken.
He is pretty narcissistic, if you ask me.

So...he decided to head outside and pose with pumpkins in his cute skeleton shirt.
I think he kind of deserves to be a little narcissistic. I mean...he is pretty cute.

This one with the hose cracks me up.

After the photo shoot, we moved on to making cupcakes.
Chocolate with cream cheese frosting, to be exact, and they were yummy.
Obviously, Tubbies enjoyed the batter... a lot!

This southwest chicken soup is super easy to make and oh so yummy.

Add the homemade tortilla strips...and wowza...it is good!

I don't think this picture gives the soup justice, but believe me, it is delish.

Ingredients...

1 jar of Pace Salsa Verde
1 Rotisserie Chicken
(Costco sells these and are a couple of dollars cheaper than at your regular neighborhood grocer, but Costco is awesome like that. Am I right or am I right?)
1 (15 oz) can of white beans drained
1 (15 oz) can of black beans drained
2 (32oz) cartons of chicken stock
(I get the six pack of Kirkland Chicken Stock from Costco and and use 2, or just under 2 of the cartons.)

garnish: shredded cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream & homemade tortilla strips

Directions...

Remove skin from chicken and shred meat with forks. Combine all ingredients into a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 10-15 minutes. I like to let it simmer for an hour or so just to let all of the flavors blend together, but it is still good if you are short on time and can only simmer for 10-15 minutes.

While your soup is simmering, in a large frying pan add about 1/2 inch of oil (I used vegetable oil) and set to medium heat.

Cut corn tortillas into strips or triangles for chips.

Fry them for about 4 minutes or until the strips are crispy. You’ll know the oil is hot enough when you drop 1 in and it bubbles and floats to the top quickly. If it sinks and sits there… you’re not hot enough yet. Once you are hot enough you can lower your temp to low/med.

Throw them on some paper towels, cover them with paper towels and give them a good shake so you can get a lot of the grease off. Then douse them with salt.

Voila!

I have been meaning to post pictures from our Australian and New Zealand adventure for quite some time now, but it is awfully daunting when I have, literally, over 1000 pictures to sort through.

So...to help ease my mind...I have decided to divide and conquer.
Let me start with our first destination (and what a fabulous destination it was)...

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Josh and I have always wanted to visit Australia, and since our good friends (Chris, Chelsea, and their son Kip) are living in Sydney, we decided it was the perfect time to go.

We did a lot of sightseeing while in Sydney, and top on our list of things to see was the
Sydney Opera House.

This awesome building definitely did not disappoint.

We visited the Taronga Zoo, and Chelsea and I sure had a roaring good time.

While we enjoyed the seal show at the zoo, we experienced the attack of the sea lion during the "encounter" part of the show.

If you ask me, the kid had it coming to him.

I think the mountain goats have the best view.
You can see the city and the Sydney Opera House right from their very own backyard.
I would have to say the Taronga Zoo has some of the best real estate in Sydney.

We also visited the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour.

On our last day in Sydney we went to Long Reef Beach.
We spent our time on the beach flying kites... well, Josh and Chris flew kites while Chelsea, Kip, and I enjoyed the views.

A day for Dre...

This is my cute nephew Andre. He was blessed this passed Sunday on 10.10.10.
What a lucky little chunk monster!

This is Dre's family. My brother Dave with his wife Brandy and their two kiddos Matthew a.k.a Tub Tubs and Andre a.k.a Chub Chubs. Obviously, Tub Tubs was much too into his Nintendo DS to smile for the camera(first photo). When I told him to set it down for the photo or I would beat him up(kidding), this was the look he gave me(second photo). He is kind of a punk, but I love his little(well, it is actually huge) attitude.

Matthew loves his Uncle Josh. I am guessing it is because Josh still acts and plays like a 3-year-old.
That is why I love him, I guess?!

And now on to the evening festivities...
It was my beautiful mother, Carole's birthday on the 8th.
She really is beautiful...don't ya think?

We celebrated with a Cakes de Fleur cake. They are seriously delicious, and they also sell their delectable delights at The Store, which is where I bought this mini cake creation.

Of course Grandma let Matthew blow out the candles (err, I mean candle) on her cake, she gives him whatever his little heart desires...and he knows it!

Did I tell you Matthew loves his Uncle Josh? Well, he does, and this is why.
Like I said, Josh loves doing things that 3-year-olds love to do.

Delightful Evening for Two...

Josh and I headed to Log Haven up Millcreek Canyon to celebrate our 5th anniversary. It is fitting, considering this is the location that our wedding party took place, and we seem to celebrate just about every special occasion there. Millcreek Canyon is gorgeous during the fall.

As I took pictures of our food, Josh was squirming with embarrassment. I find a great satisfaction in embarrassing Josh on a frequent basis.

The view outside the window of beautiful fall trees was awesome.

For some reason, beyond my comprehension, Josh insists on making silly faces in every picture. It drives me absolutely batty! I do think the picture on the right is pretty cute though, and it is probably the best picture taken of him in a very long time.

As we drove into the driveway after dinner, we found this cute pup awaiting our arrival. Yes, the back gate was open so she moseyed up front and just hung out on the front porch looking pretty all evening. Bailey is such a good pup and looks adorable perched between the pumpkins.

We have been up to quite a lot in the past 6 months. Josh and I are happy and full of life and celebrating our 5 year anniversary today. Well, we will actually be celebrating this weekend, considering Josh has a nasty bug that has kept him in bed all day.

We spent our summer doing many fun things, but the top of our list was our holiday enjoying Australia and New Zealand.

This past Monday, Josh and I went with my fam to the Pearl Jam concert. This was the third time I had seen them live, and I think this was the best concert yet! Ben Harper and Relentless7 opened up for PJ which was a great added perk. Yes, I still have a thing for Eddie Vedder, and I think Ben Harper might be climbing up the list. Ha!

Cabin Fever

This past weekend, Josh and I were able to go up to our brother-in-law Andrew's cabin near Smith and Morehouse. We made delicious s'mores with Reese's (as you can tell, a new favorite of mine), and we went four-wheeling. It was fabulous weather, and the leaves on the trees were awesome with their brilliant color. The drive up Parley's was absolutely beautiful, and I highly recommend you take the drive up if you have a free afternoon. I love this time of year!

Needless to say, our plans to move to Vegas have been put on hold for now, and we are excited to start our new jobs here in Salt Lake. A couple weekends ago, I was able to get together with some of my favorite girls. We all headed up to Midway for the weekend and stayed at Hailey's beautiful house. We got some lay-out time in, good eating in, some s'mores roasting in, a lot of girl talking in, and I can't forget the shopping we got in. We will definitely have to do a "just the girls" weekend again soon!

We had a great time in San Clemente enjoying the beach and the sun. My family was able to enjoy a couple Dodger's games and a Padres game. It was unfortunate the Angels were out of town, but the other games were sufficient. Josh got to spend two whole days in geek world (Blizz Con) at the Anaheim Convention Center, and he loved every minute of it.

My brother Scott and sister-in-law Kristie were married on July 31, 2009 in Kauai, Hawaii. We were all able to go to their wedding, and it was absolutely beautiful. We started our vacation in Kauai and ended up in Oahu. It was a great time! Don't worry, there is only about a billion pictures!

John, Becky, Josh, and I hiked part of the Na Pali coast in Kauai. It was called the Kalalau trail. It was a hike of death. Note to self...bring more than one protein bar for 4 people when you are hiking 8 miles. Great scenery though.

We finally had made it to Hanakapi'ai Falls off the Kalalau trail. There were many signs that warned...DO NOT SWIM UNDER WATERFALL. Well, Josh didn't mind and was nearly struck by a rock that fell from at least four hundred feet above. Close call!

Puppies!!!
Bailey's puppies were born June 16, 2009. She had four boys and four girls. They are absolutely adorable! We had a long night delivering the pups, but it was well worth the wait!

I am so happy spring is almost here!!! This is what I do when I think about spring. I grin as big as I can. Yay for SPRING!!!

For Valentine's Day, Josh and I went to Log Haven and enjoyed their STEAK AND LOBSTER FEST. It was only $25 a person for steak and lobster if you order before 6:30 pm. It was awesome! The special is running through March. We will probably go at least one more time, and I highly suggest you try and go too. Delicious! This picture was taken at Log Haven. Nothing beats good food and beautiful scenery.

Josh, Bailey and I have been going down to St. George just about every other weekend. It has been so nice and warm down there. St. George is great in the spring.

Calling all Chocolate Lovers...

This Saturday is my favorite day of the ski season. It is the annual Chocolate Lovers Tour up at Solitude. I highly recommend everyone get out of the inversion and come up and enjoy delicious, free chocolate. There are six chocolate stations with things like chocolate covered strawberries, Creamies, chocolate milk, chocolate covered cinnamon bears, and just plain chocolate. I am excited!

I was adding some new songs to the blog when I came across Paula Abdul's Rush, Rush. It took me back into time(right back to middle school that is). CHRISTMAS AWESOMENESS
The past few days have been filled with snow shoveling and parties with friends and family. All of this has helped get me in the Christmas spirit. I love this time of year, and the fun times I am able to spend with the greatest people.

It's about time...

Things have been pretty busy around our neck of the woods, but I am finally posting some pics from the last couple months. Josh and I were able to go to the Coldplay concert a few weeks ago with my sister, brother, and his wife. It was awesome. I had a grand old time totally getting my groove on to the sweet music.

This is a picture of when Coldplay came into the audience and played a few songs. They were just a section over and a few rows up from us. I loved it.

Just Some Fun...
Here are a few more pics from our fun summer. In August, the Giauque clan (minus Boo, Steve, Stevie, and Mitchell) took a hike up to Twin Lakes Pass at Brighton. It was a beautiful morning, but it ended up raining and hailing on our parade. All of the kids were rock stars climbing up the mountain and weren't deterred by the turbulent weather.

Alaska, Lake Powell, and Flaming Gorge, OH MY!

Josh was able to go on a fishing trip to Alaska this summer with his dad, brother, and some of his extended family. He had been in years past and always loved it. They fish all day and late into the night. We now have a freezer full of salmon since Josh is such a great fisherman.

While Josh was in Alaska, I wasn't about to sit and wallow in my own self-pity. Instead, I took a trip down to Lake Powell with my sister Becky. We met my brother and my soon-to-be-sister-in-law Kristie and their friends down there. My brother proposed to Kristie while we were in Lake Powell which was excellent! I am glad I was there for it.

Flaming Gorge '08

Josh and I go to Flaming Gorge every year with our good friends Scott and Carlie. We camp out and boat all day long. The first day it was perfect weather, but the others were not so great. The weather there is always a little iffy, but we love to go anyway. The scenery is breathtaking.

Fun in the Sun

We had a fabulous time in California this July. We spent our time playing at the beach, eating yummy Surfin' Donuts, and going to plenty of baseball games. My nephew Matthew loved his first beach experience and all of the baseball games. It was perfect weather the whole time, and it makes me wish I lived there in the summer and here in the winter. Maybe someday, I guess.

That's right, Bailey is quite the rebel. Josh and I went hiking up Bell's Canyon the other day, and Bailey followed us. She knew darn well that dogs were not allowed, but she came anyway! Oooh, she is living on the edge! I guess she could not resist the great weather and the beautiful scenery.

I can't wait for May 30th. It's not only Andee's birthday, but Sex and the City the movie comes out. The cast of Sex and the City was on Oprah yesterday and that got me all sorts of excited for the movie. I have only been waiting 4 years for this day, and it is almost here. Yahoo! I am pretty sure it is going to be awesome! Definitely need to plan a girls night for this one.

Weekend O' Fun

On Saturday, Josh and I went to one of my friend's wedding and went to the Jazz game after. It was a great game, and the Jazz won. It is so our year! On Sunday, my family got together for dinner, and I got some quality time in with Tub Tubs (my nephew Matthew). He is so cute. After dinner, we went to the Giauque's for Emo's welcome home party. She had been working on a cruise for the last 7 months or so.

Another Season, Another Picnic

Another season of teaching skiing has gone by, and another end-of-the-season picnic is over too. Every year the picnic is the same thing. Huge sub sandwiches that I attempt to eat every year, but every year my mouth is too small and can't bite into the massiveness. Awesome prizes that are raffled off, such as 37 inch lcd hdtv's, playstation 3's, ipod's, you get the drift, but after 6 years, I still have nothing to show for it. Anyway, this year, I decided I would bring the pupsa brown to entertain me, since I wouldn't be able to eat, and I wouldn't win any prizes. Bailey made new friends and was definitely the belle of the ball!

Bailey had a hard time actually staying still long enough for me to snap a picture. Her tail will be all you will see at the bottom of the frame of some of the pictures. They make for great action shots.

Why are dogs so obsessed with sniffing butts? And yes, that is the end of Bailey's tail in the last picture. She is so fast.

Sunny Arizona!
Last week I was able to go down to Phoenix with my fam, except Josh :( . We went to relax, visit my brother that lives there, and go to baseball games. The D-backs were playing the Dodgers. Unfortunately, the Dodgers lost both games we attended, even the one on my birthday. So Sad! On the trip, I enjoyed the beautiful weather and spending time with my nephew Matthew. I also spent time with my cousin Missy and Aunt Lori that I don't have the pleasure of seeing as often as I would like. This trip also consisted of many firsts for Matthew.

Europe Vacation

In March, Josh, his sister Jessica, her husband Andrew, and I took a trip to Europe. It was awesome and quite an adventure. We visited London, Venice, Rome, Paris, Milan, Monte Carlo, and Cinque Terre. London and Paris were pretty cold, but everywhere else was mild and nice. Monte Carlo had the best weather with sunny skies and temps in the 70's. Cinque Terre was absolutely beautiful, and I would recommend that everybody go visit. We all had a great time!

Bailey is currently in her second heat. In order to keep things clean around the house, we put Bailey in some underoos. Every time I look at her I can't help but laugh. She is quite the sexy doggy, don't ya think?

This December the Giauque family went on a 10-day cruise to the Southern Caribbean. We were all excited to see Emo and experience her performances first hand. She is a singer and dancer on the world cruise ship for Holland America. While in the Caribbean, we visited Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas, Guadeloupe, Grenada, Barbados, and St. Lucia. At Half Moon Cay we relaxed and basked in the sun. In St. Thomas, we spent the day shopping. We visited a waterfall in Guadeloupe. We went to the beach in Grenada and played on a leaky water weenie. In Barbados, we went scuba diving and saw plenty of ship wrecks. Last but certainly not least, we zoomed down a fantastic zip line in St. Lucia. It was quite the trip, and we loved every minute of it!

Ode to Fudge

For the last couple of weeks my diet has consisted mainly of fudge. It is delicious and creamy. There are crushed walnuts seemingly strategically placed inside the 1 inch square of pure goodness. It is as though I cannot get enough! Every time I think I have curbed my cravings, I am back in the kitchen opening the small Tupperware that holds my addiction. Fudge oh fudge. Yum Yum.
